1. Do you know anyone who the owner of lost money?
Check the names of everyone you know. Friends and family, people at work, your boss, your insurance agent, the people at the corner store. For the fun of it just check every name you can think. Think of the fun you will have telling them that you found free money on the internet with their name on in. (free money details). Be sure to make of list of lost money you find and who it belongs too.

2. Now lets give you some practice on finding the current address of owners of lost HUD refunds.

Search for a phone number or address in public telephone directories.

FIND CURRENT ADDRESS (search for people). The address given in the HUD refund name list is a old address. The refund owner no longer lives there.

Search the refund owners name in the same state and town as the last known address. Many times people will move to a new address in the same town.
Search by last name of the refunds owner only, in the same town. This way you may find a family member of the refund owner.
Search by first and last name of the refunds owner only, same state. Most likely the refund owner will live in the same state of the last known address.

House Number: Leave blank to find all residents of the street

Street Name: Example: N 4th St
Use standard postal abbreviations without periods: St, Rd, Ln, S, NW, etc.

City: State:

Reverse Address (USA) Free, this is a great tool.

Search the address to find the current person who lives at that address. Many times the current owner will know where the refund owner has moved to. Many times the refund owner sold the home to the person who lives at the last known address now.
Search the address again with out the house number. This will give you a list of people who live on the same street as the refund owners last known address. This way you can ask the refund owners old neighbors if they know were refund owner moved to.

3. Once you find the current address of a lost money owner you need to mail them a letter. LostRefunds provides a Sample letter to Deluxe members only.

In the letter only say you believe they are the owner of lost money.
Never say they have to pay you to receive the money. If they find the money with out they can collect the money for free.
Tell the owner you will help them find and collect the money in exchange for a service fee.
That the lost money owner only pays you the service fee if the owner receives the money.
This way the lost money owner has nothing to lose by signing the service agreement between you and the lost money owner.

4. Sign agreement between lost money owner and you the lost money tracer.

5. Help the lost money owner with the required forms and instructions.

5. Pay day is when the lost money owner receives the money. Up to 30% of HUD refunds and up to 50% of other kinds of lost money is paid to the lost money tracer.
